About the Filmmaker
Weimin Zhang/ Director:

 

Weimin Zhang is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and professional cinematographer. Weimin grew up in the Hutongs of Beijing. She is a China’s Sixth Generation filmmaker and graduated from Beijing Film Academy in 1991, then continued her education with two masters degrees from Ohio University, one in film, and the other in interactive multimedia design. Since 1993, Weimin has completed 5 films that have shown at film festivals internationally and the 1997 27-episode television series, The Opium War. Weimin has worked on numerous feature films, TV drama series, documentaries, as well as TV commercials in both China and the U.S. film industries for over 15 years. She is now an Assistant Professor at San Francisco State University where she teaches cinematography and documentary production.
